Ford has begun taking orders for the 2027 Mustang Mach-E, an update to its electric crossover that makes the larger battery standard and adds a new off-road-minded model to the lineup.

The 2027 version no longer offers the standard-range pack that was available on the 2026 model. Every Mach-E now comes with the 88 kWh battery or, on the performance-oriented versions, a 91 kWh unit. The vehicle is sold in five trims: Select, Premium, GT, Rally and the newly introduced Trail.

The base Select RWD starts at $39,995. With the $2,045 destination fee included, the price comes to $42,040. That is a bit more than the 2026 model's entry price, but the earlier extended-range battery began at $45,345 on the 2026 Mustang Mach-E. Ford said a new secondary front motor delivers the same performance as the previous unit at a lower cost, which made a cheaper base rear-wheel-drive model with the larger battery possible.

On range, the 88 kWh battery carries an EPA-estimated figure of up to 320 miles in RWD models. Depending on configuration, eAWD versions offer 300 miles. The GT and Rally use the 91 kWh battery and are rated at 280 miles and 255 miles, respectively. Select and Premium trims can be had with rear- or all-wheel drive, while the GT and Rally are sold only as eAWD.

The Trail is offered as a $2,295 package upgrade for the Select eAWD. Ford says it is meant to make "outdoor adventures across pavement, gravel, and dirt roads more accessible than ever." The package includes fine-tuned front and rear struts and springs, a steering rack shaped like the one in the Rally, and 19-inch High Gloss Dark Carbonized Gray wheels with as-cast graphics. The vehicle sits 10 mm higher in front and 15 mm higher in the rear than the base Mach-E.

The Trail also comes with 400W, 120V Pro Power Onboard as standard. That feature can be added to other variants, including the Premium, GT and Rally. Ford has not yet released a final EPA range estimate for the Trail and plans to do so closer to its on-sale date, which is expected in the first quarter of 2027.

On driver assistance, Ford's BlueCruise 1.5 is standard on the GT and Rally. It is optional on the Select with Tech Pack Lite and on the Premium with Premium Tech Pack. Buyers of the Trail must choose the required hardware when ordering, since it cannot be added afterward. The Ford Connectivity Package and Ford Security Package are standard across the whole 2027 range.

With the new model year now open for orders, the best discounts are likely to be found on the outgoing 2026 version.
